Michael is a Christ follower, husband to Katie, dad to Ollie and Eliza, the Republican Representative for Woodstock and a serial entrepreneur.
Growing up, Michael’s parents had him repeat the same sentence in front of the mirror every day:
“I, Michael Caldwell, am responsible for the consequences of my actions.”
It’s a tradition that Michael and Katie have carried on with Oliver (and Elizabeth once the cooing turns to talking). It instilled a sense of individual responsibility and urgency in Michael. He has carried that same conviction with him during his service in the Georgia House of Representatives, as a business owner and employer, and every day as a father and husband.
Michael married his high school sweetheart Katie shortly after graduating with his BBA in Finance from Kennesaw State University. They are the parents of Oliver (Ollie, 4 years) and Elizabeth (Eliza, 7 months). Michael, Katie, Ollie, Eliza and their two Great Danes “Liberty” and “Justice” live in downtown Woodstock.
Michael was a member of the founding team at Python Safety, Inc. which specialized in “Fall Protection for Tools” and was acquired by 3M in 2015. He authored the most widely adopted dropped object prevention procedure in the world and has spent years traveling the globe speaking on this topic.
Now a Managing Partner at Black Airplane, he and his team build enterprise solutions in digital applications and websites. In the two and a half years since Michael and his business partner (and best friend and former college roommate) David acquired and launched Black Airplane, the team has grown from three to seventeen full-time employed Georgians.
Tested Conservative Representative
Michael has served as the Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives from Georgia’s 20th district since January 2013. He was the youngest state legislator in the United States when he was elected at 22 years old in 2012, and he has earned a reputation for principled, conservative governing.
Representative Caldwell currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Code Revision Committee (tasked with repeal of law) and as a member of the Regulated Industries, Economic Development, Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Interstate Cooperation and State Planning & Community Affairs Committees. He is also a Deputy Majority Whip and the Chairman of the Cherokee County Legislative Delegation.
Some Other Highlights on Michael
He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (the highest peak in Africa and tallest freestanding mountain in the world), hand-copied the New Testament, and he finished his undergraduate degree in less than three years.
Michael’s business background and proven conservative track record position him well to take Cherokee and North Fulton’s values to our state Senate, but he can’t do it without your help. Can we count on you to chip in today?
