The best way to judge a politician’s fiscal responsibility is by looking at their campaign finances. Michael has always worked hard to Lead by Example with his campaign. Since 2010 he was the first in Georgia to voluntarily:

  • refuse campaign contributions or gifts from registered lobbyists
  • refuse campaign contributions from out of state
  • return all unused campaign funds to his donors at the end of every election
  • disclose campaign funds down to the penny nearly every day on his website

These standards are not required by law. They’re just better. Michael holds his campaign to a financial standard that makes fundraising and operating a campaign significantly more difficult, but it also sends a clear message to his constituents: He is accountable to you.
